David Valdez (Born 06/01/1949 in Alice, TX) is an American Photographer, best known for being the Chief Official White House Photographer from 1989 to 1993, during the presidency of George H. W. Bush. From humble beginnings after being drafted as a field photographer in the Air Force, David earned his college degree from the Univ. of Maryland in Journalism and Radio/TV production. He was a photographer for various government agencies and was chief photographer for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, before becoming Vice President Bush’s photographer.
David has been on assignment in 75 countries and all 50 states having photos published in Life Magazine, Time, Newsweek, People, U.S News and World Report, USA Today, Washington Post, New York Times, Sports Illustrated, etc. to name a few. In 1993 David became General Manager of Photography for the Walt Disney Company worldwide. He currently works as the Arts and Culture Board Chairman for the City of Georgetown, where he hosts the annual Texas Photography Festival. David and his wife, Sarah Jane, live in Sun City and attend Crestview Baptist Church.
